There are so many great healing herbs that can be used to help the female body through the postpartum recovery phase. Different herbs can be used as bath soaks, tea blends and infusions. I’ve listed a wonderful assortment of herbs to help with lactation and uterine support for the postpartum body – you can check that post out here.
One of my favourite books, The First Forty Days by Heng Ou, has a great section on tea blends and infusions. I pulled a few of my favourites to share with you here. All of these herbs can be purchased online or in certain stores – I’ve listed a few of my favourites under the recipes.
INFUSIONS
TO PREPARE: Place the dried herbs in a 1-quart mason jar; fill with 4 cups boiling water and cap tightly. Strain after 4 to 8 hours. Refrigerate what you don’t drink and drink within the day, hot or at room temperature.
TEA BLENDS
If you’re interested in having an at home apothecary of your own, here are some great stores that carry dry herbs and teas in bulk so you can stock up before you have your baby, or even if you are well into your postpartum journey (it’s never too late to take care of yourself!):
Chickpeace – In-Store Kelowna or Online
Gaia Garden – In-Store Vancouver or Online (they even have a Momma’s Blend Tea)
Living Apothecary also has a great postpartum tea blend, Hey Mama.
And if you’re looking for pre-made tea blends, you can check out some of my recommendations in my post HERE.
