As you begin your postpartum journey, fluid intake should be a high priority to help replenish the blood lost during delivery, boost circulation and aid in milk production if you are breastfeeding. It is important that the fluids you are consuming be warming fluids to avoid the postpartum chill and to enhance the body’s ability to heal. It is a great time to take advantage of the healing properties of herbs by making tea blends or infusions. Here are a few of my favourite herbs to assist with your postpartum journey.
Please don’t feel like you have to stock all of these herbs in your tea cupboard; choose a few that resonate with you and keep them in glass jars or premix some of your own tea blends so you can easily restore and rebalance your postpartum body and mind.
*Please also note that some of these herbs should not be consumed during pregnancy and are for postpartum use only. Always consult your healthcare provider before using any of these herbs as a ‘treatment’ option for any symptoms you are experiencing. I am not suggesting that these herbs be used medicinally, but rather for enjoyment, warmth and ‘healing’.*
